🔌 Plug In To These Details
Google DeepMind's Gemini 2.0 advances AI capabilities by introducing intelligent agents capable of performing autonomous, multi-step tasks across various environments. The model features innovative tools like "Deep Research" for human-like information synthesis and integrates deeply with Google services. Experimental projects such as Astra and Mariner push the boundaries of real-time interaction and autonomous web navigation, setting the stage for widespread adoption in 2024.

Gemini 2.0’s autonomy includes understanding environmental cues, enabling AI agents to complete tasks in fluid scenarios.
"Deep Research" reflects Google’s emphasis on AI contributing to detailed, human-like problem-solving processes.
Project Astra highlights experimental efforts to make AI useful in live, dynamic settings, such as interpreting conversations.
Project Mariner aims to automate information gathering, potentially transforming how users interact with the web.
Google’s gradual rollout strategy underscores a cautious but ambitious approach to bringing advanced AI to everyday use.
Google just launched an AI that takes over Chrome and does things for you.
It scores an insane 90.5% w/ tree search on the WebVoyager benchmark which has tasks like:
"Book a flight from SF to Berlin, departing on March 5 and returning on the 12"
Agents are going mainstream.

🤖 Projects like Astra and Mariner hint at a future where AI is not just reactive but actively engaged in understanding and shaping its surroundings.
OpenAI has expanded its ChatGPT Canvas feature to all users, enhancing the platform's editing capabilities. Canvas provides a side-by-side interface, allowing users to edit AI-generated text or code directly, facilitating more efficient collaboration and refinement.

It was initially launched in October 2024 for only premium subscribers
Canvas is now integrated into the GPT-4o model and is accessible via desktop web browsers and the Windows app
The update includes:
the ability to run Python code within Canvas
support for more extensive text pasting
integration with custom GPTs, thereby streamlining workflows for both writers and developers
Canvas—a new way to work with ChatGPT to draft, edit, and get feedback on writing & code—is now available to all users in our 4o model.
It’s fully rolled out on web and the ChatGPT desktop app for Windows.

As AI platforms consolidate control over data, blockchain innovators are promoting an "open web" that decentralizes data ownership and empowers users. By prioritizing privacy, security, and token-based incentives, these systems aim to counterbalance AI’s centralizing tendencies while fostering greater equity in the digital economy.

Blockchain enables decentralized systems to challenge AI-driven centralization of data control.
The "open web" concept aims to let users decide how their data is shared and monetized.
Token-based systems incentivize user participation and equitable economic benefits.
AI’s dominance could reshape or even end the internet as we know it, centralizing control and eroding user autonomy.
Decentralized architectures enhance data privacy and security while promoting transparency.
What’s after Web3? (Spoiler: not Web4 or Web5—it’s The Post Web 🚀)

Instagram’s New “Trial Reels” Feature
Instagram is experimenting with a bold new feature: Trial Reels. These posts allow creators to test content without immediately broadcasting it to their followers. Instead, Trial Reels appear in a limited, experimental context, giving users the chance to fine-tune their ideas based on performance data and feedback before fully committing to publishing them for their audience.
Instagram just introduced a game changer feature, trial reels
You can now test reels only with non-followers, followers can’t see the post

Why It Matters:
Safe Experimentation: Creators and brands can take more creative risks, exploring different styles, tones, or topics without fear of immediate judgment from their core followers.
Data-Driven Decisions: By analyzing engagement metrics on Trial Reels, users can better tailor their content strategy.
Potential Boost for New Creators: This feature could level the playing field by giving less-established creators a low-pressure way to refine their skills and content.
Opportunities for AI Creatives:
For AI artists, animators, and content creators, Trial Reels might be the perfect platform to:
Experiment with new AI-generated aesthetics or techniques.
Beta test Reels that leverage cutting-edge tools like generative video or interactive AR.
Collect audience insights without compromising your brand identity.
Instagram just released a “trial” option for Reels that pushes your video to non-followers first. This is actually crazy, I’ve been an IG hater forever because I hate their algo. But if this ends up working well, I may change my mind lol

🤔 Final Thoughts
Alright, Google’s Gemini 2.0 seems legit. It’s come a long, long way from their gaffs and mistakes earlier this year.
Agents definitely seem to be going mainstream with this new annoucement from Google…could OpenAI potentially follow it up later this week with a version of their rumored agent “Operator”? It’s said to be ready for shipping next year, but who knows..
We’ll see! Another few days of Shipmas awaits.
For the first time, I can confidently say that Google has better models than OpenAI wrt cost, speed, & performance.
I had great experience with Gemini last year but hesitated to use them in prod due to inconsistency.
I’ll start focusing on the flash 2 going forward.

people have no idea how much more power in ai Google has than Openai. i commend OpenAi for shipping it, when google was too timid to, but openai was always mostly engineering and not fundamental ai research, and now that there's so much money/power in it, google/fb are not being… x.com/i/web/status/1…
