OpenAI has submitted recommendations to the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) for the U.S. AI Action Plan. The proposals call for federal policies that would override state-level AI regulations, limit export restrictions on AI technology, and ensure AI companies can continue using copyrighted content for training.

Regulatory Strategy: OpenAI urges the federal government to prevent individual states from enacting AI regulations that could restrict AI companies. The proposal argues that inconsistent state laws could disadvantage U.S. firms globally and suggests a nationwide framework that prioritizes industry interests.
Export Control Strategy: OpenAI recommends limiting restrictions on AI exports to allow U.S. companies to dominate global markets. At the same time, it suggests revising certain export controls to prevent AI models from being acquired by geopolitical rivals.
Copyright Strategy: The proposals advocate for AI models to retain the ability to train on copyrighted material without requiring licensing agreements. OpenAI argues that imposing stricter copyright rules could hinder AI development and put U.S. companies at a disadvantage.
Infrastructure Development: The recommendations call for federal investment in AI-related infrastructure, including computing power and workforce training. OpenAI frames this as a way to strengthen U.S. industrial competitiveness while ensuring AI companies have access to necessary resources.
Government Adoption: OpenAI encourages the federal government to integrate AI into public administration and national security efforts. The proposals suggest that government adoption of AI could set an example for broader AI deployment across industries.

👀 This one will be interesting to watch. OpenAI is essentially asking the Trump administration to go against some of the core principles it ran on (reducing the size of the federal government) in order to protect the nascent AI industry, which Trump has stated is a top priority for the US to lead worldwide. It’s notable that Google basically asked for the same protection shortly after.
Microsoft has announced 'Copilot for Gaming,' an AI-driven assistant designed to enhance the gaming experience by providing personalized support and guidance to players.

Personalized Game Recommendations: Copilot suggests new games tailored to individual preferences, helping players discover titles aligned with their interests.
Progress Recaps: The assistant offers summaries of previous gameplay sessions, enabling players to quickly recall their in-game progress and objectives.
In-Game Assistance: Copilot provides real-time tips and strategies during gameplay. For example, in Overwatch 2, it can analyze mistakes and recommend hero selections; in Minecraft, it assists with crafting queries and locating materials.
Multi-Device Integration: Initially available through the Xbox mobile app, Copilot is designed to function as a companion on a second screen, with plans to expand to multiple devices in the future.
User Feedback and Development: An early preview of Copilot will be available to Xbox Insiders in April, allowing Microsoft to refine the feature based on user input before a broader release.
Copilot for Gaming: our new AI assistant coming soon to your Xbox mobile app.
