OpenAI’s “Work with Apps” feature for ChatGPT on macOS allows the AI to access content from compatible coding applications, enhancing its ability to provide tailored responses. This feature enables ChatGPT to read open editor panes, terminal content, and selected text from various coding apps, resulting in more accurate and context-aware assistance for developers and programmers.
ChatGPT 🤝 VS Code, Xcode, Terminal, iTerm2
ChatGPT for macOS can now work with apps on your desktop. In this early beta for Plus and Team users, you can let ChatGPT look at coding apps to provide better answers.

Users can enable the feature by clicking the “Work With Apps” button in the ChatGPT chat bar and selecting a compatible application.
For editors and IDEs, ChatGPT includes the full content of open editor panes, focusing on selected text if applicable.
In terminals, ChatGPT includes the last 200 lines of open panes, with a focus on selected text if present.
The feature uses the macOS Accessibility API for most apps, while VS Code requires a specific extension.
📆 It’s now available for ChatGPT Plus and Team users, with Enterprise and Edu users to gain access soon.
✍️ AI-generated poetry is indistinguishable from human-written poetry and is rated more favorably
This study reveals that AI-generated poetry is now indistinguishable from human-written poetry when evaluated by non-expert readers. The research found that participants performed below chance levels in identifying AI-generated poems and were more likely to judge AI-generated poems as human-authored than actual human-authored poems. Surprisingly, AI-generated poems were rated more favorably across several qualitative dimensions, including rhythm and beauty. This preference for AI-generated poetry partially explains the “more human than human” phenomenon observed in the study.

The study examined 50 human-written poems from 10 famous poets and 50 AI-generated poems “in the style of” those poets.
1,634 participants in Study 1 tried to distinguish AI vs human-authored poems, performing below chance levels — in Study 2, 696 new participants rated poems on 14 qualitative dimensions under different framing conditions.
AI-generated poems were rated higher on 13 out of 14 qualitative dimensions compared to human-written poems.
Participants performed below chance (46.6% accuracy) in identifying AI-generated poems.
AI-generated poems were more likely to be judged as human-authored than actual human-authored poems.
The study found a bias against AI authorship when participants were told a poem was AI-generated.
Experience with poetry did not improve discrimination performance.
🎠As AI-generated poems become indistinguishable from human-written ones, we may need to reconsider how we define and value artistic authenticity in the digital age…perhaps even how we define what makes something “human”.
Glean, a startup founded by former Google engineer Arvind Jain, has developed an AI-powered enterprise search chatbot that is gaining significant traction in the business world. The company’s product uses connectors to collect and organize corporate data from various applications and databases, making it easier for employees to find information within their company. Glean’s success has attracted the attention of major tech companies like Google, OpenAI, and Cohere, who are now developing similar products. The rapid growth and high valuation of Glean reflect the potential of the AI-powered enterprise search market.

Glean was founded in 2019 and is now valued at $4.6 billion, with over 500 employees.
The company’s annual recurring revenue has tripled in the past year, reaching around $100 million.
Glean’s success is attributed to its connector technology, which is compatible with over 100 different apps and databases.
Major tech companies like Google, OpenAI, and Cohere are developing similar products in response to Glean’s success.
Google is preparing to launch a new version of its enterprise search service for cloud customers that will be similar to Glean’s product. This is being developed for Google Cloud customers.
OpenAI employees have been working on technology that could help ChatGPT compete more directly with Glean. The specifics aren’t detailed, but it seems aimed at enterprise search capabilities.
Glean’s growth accelerated after the launch of ChatGPT in late 2022, which sparked increased interest in AI-powered search tools.
đź’Ľ The emergence of Glean as a formidable player in the enterprise search market illustrates how startups can carve out significant niches in AI applications, even in the face of competition from established tech behemoths.
X has initiated legal action against California’s Assembly Bill 2655, which aims to regulate AI-generated deepfakes in political content. The lawsuit, filed in Sacramento federal court, challenges the law’s requirements for large online platforms to remove or label election-related deepfakes. X argues that these measures could infringe upon First Amendment rights and lead to widespread censorship of political speech.

X filed the lawsuit against California’s AB 2655 on November 15, 2024, in Sacramento federal court.
AB 2655 requires large online platforms to remove or label AI-generated deepfakes related to elections.
The law imposes requirements such as establishing channels to report political deepfakes.
X argues the law will lead to widespread censorship of political speech.
The company cites strong First Amendment protections for speech critical of government officials and candidates.
🔍 This case highlights the growing need for a nuanced approach to regulating AI in politics, one that addresses concerns about deepfakes without stifling legitimate forms of political expression.
